What is Ketamine?

Ketamine was first developed in the 1960s and has a long track record of safety and efficacy in anesthesia. In recent years, Ketamine has also been used for the treatment of depression, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). It has been shown to have rapid antidepressant effects in some patients who have not responded to other treatments.

Ketamine Treatment at Home

Through our measurement and evidence-based Ketamine Treatment at Home program, you can receive the benefits of this transformative treatment in the comfort, safety, and privacy of your home. You will meet in person, or by video, with one of our board-certified psychiatrists for an intake session to determine safety and suitability. If your physician assesses that Ketamine is an appropriate treatment, we will connect you with Blueprint, our measurement-based care platform, and medication will be discreetly sent to your home from our partner pharmacy. Your exact dosing and treatment regimen will be determined by your physician.  A typical treatment entails six sessions; however, each treatment plan will be tailored to the individual. We will partner with you and be available to you throughout your treatment.

Ketamine Treatment in Office

At Bluestone Psychiatry, you will be in a safe, supportive, and medically monitored environment. You will receive an orally dissolvable form of Ketamine and will relax in comfort during the treatment. Before, during, and after your treatment physical metrics, including blood pressure and heart rate, will be monitored. Please note that you will require a ride to and from our center by a trusted family member or friend.

How Many Sessions will I Need?

The acute phase of treatment is typically 6 sessions; however, we tailor the plan to your unique situation and needs. Evidence suggests that after the acute phase of treatment, intermittent or continuation treatment with Ketamine can continue to build upon the positive effects. You will have data about your symptoms and improvement over time, and along with your physician, will be able to collectively determine the appropriate number of sessions and best course of action for you.
